Lucy Michel is an artist born and raised in Los Angeles, her aesthetic is Modern Californian. Growing up here, the California vibes are deeply engrained in her. Lucy feels very connected to this land; from the beach, to the desert, to the mountains. It all inspires her work and can be seen in her ceramic designs. The shapes of Her pieces are modern, but the glazes + clay are earthy and simple. Some of her signature pieces are the Loop Vases seen above, as well as the Arch Vase, we love the unique and creative spin she puts on housewares.

This female owned line has been around since 2002, from the beginning designer Rachel Pally has been dedicated to local and ethical production. She celebrates all women and has created a company that is not only beautiful but inclusive. Her collections include contemporary sizes XS-XL, Plus and Maternity. Diverse sizing isn't always easy to find from local labels, we applaud Rachel for providing such a wide range of conscious designs. The mother of two has a great sense of the female spirit, she creates pieces that work in real life and on real bodies. Bridal party gowns also available.

This mother and daughter run brand is based between Los Angeles, CA and Vancouver, BC. Their garments are manufactured in LA, while the business side is split between Canada and California. The matriarch, Cynthia Bennett has a background in costume and textile design. She made her children's clothing when they were growing up; and after her daughter Meera had kids of her own they were inspired to start Devon's Drawer together. Cynthia handles the production side; sewing the samples and many of the smaller run pieces in her home studio (additional garments are outsourced to a local factory in downtown LA). Their fabrics are ethically sourced (domestically and overseas) and they try to use sustainably options whenever possible. Pictured above is the Lola Dress in Chambray. Devon’s Drawer recently started adding women’s to their collection, including several tops and bottoms.

Moon Bath

Created by three friends on a Scorpio full moon, the line includes botanical bath teas, infused salt and sacred smoke. The teas are designed to work with the phases of the moon, organic herbs are specially blended based on Ayurvedic tradition. The blends include New Moon, Waxing Moon, Full Moon and Waning Moon; meant to be enjoyed during the corresponding moon cycle. The Milk & Honey infused salt can be combined with the bath teas for an extra delicious soak, or savored alone.

Carleen

Kelsy Parkhouse created Carleen in 2012 while living in NYC, but has since relocated back to her native Southern California. The line includes signature pieces that are updated seasonally, as well as new additions. Some of our favorites, her denim and chore coat sets (sold separately but perfect when paired together). Additionally we love her use of vintage quilts, she reconstructs them into beautiful one of a kind jackets, dresses and more. Kelsy makes her own patterns to insure desired fit, the pieces are then sown locally right here in Los Angeles. The style is nostalgic, classic Americana; influenced by art and the designers Southern California upbringing.

Designer Carrie Hoffman is a formally trained metalsmith who draws inspiration from architecture, art and her own minimal bohemian lifestyle. Her pieces find the perfect balance between clean, bold, structured and delicate. They are modern with a nod to classic jewelry styles, for example the chic pearl detailing seen in her Sphere collection. Carrie uses recycled metals whenever possible and is committed to offering fair pricing.

We love the unique hand painted designs and interesting shapes that make up this ceramics line by April Nickel. Designer Holly Takoda Rhoads pulls inspiration from her natural surroundings in Santa Fe and her love of mysticism. Her pieces are hand carved in wax then cast in recycled bronze (ethically produced in the USA). A percentage of each sale is used to plant 30 trees through Eden Reforestation Projects, an organization providing jobs to impoverished communities while working to restore their local forests. Catori’s donations have already funded the planting of tens of thousands of trees. Holly has a background in the healing arts and uses her knowledge of energy to pass blessings unto the wearers of her jewelry. We love the earthy and talisman like designs.

Brazilian born Gabriela Maraschin creates her polymer clay pieces using inspiration from her many travels (colors, landscapes, objects and even conversations have influenced her work). The primarily neutral color palette and clean lines give her designs a minimal aesthetic. Gabriela’s last three collections (on her site now) were inspired by a road trip through California.

Hipsters For Sisters is a sustainable line of bags designed by mother and daughter duo Debra and Rachel Denniston. Their signature styles are hands free, worn at the hip, like a chic update to the Fanny Pack. The concept was created by Debra (mother) after years of frustration and shoulder pain associated with heavy bags. She also wanted to simplify "If men can get through their days with only the contents of their pockets, women can too." Their belt bags are just the right size for the essentials, for days when life requires you to carry a little more, they also design some beautiful larger cross body styles. All bags are made using sustainable, Eco and animal friendly materials, such as fabrics made from recycled materials, hemp, cork and Pinatex.

This sustainable swimwear line constructs their pieces using a nylon fabric made from recycled fishing nets. Fishing nets account for an estimated 10% of the oceans pollution, cleaning them up and repurposing them is vital. We love the idea of taking harmful waste from the ocean and turning it into a beautiful suit to be enjoyed at the beach.
