Behavior LA | Repurposed collection

October 24, 2017

We featured this LA made shoe line on our blog last March, when their first collection launched. Some of the beautiful styles we initially fell in love with are still available, but they have also added a new Repurposed Collection to the mix. These pieces feature the same architectural silhouettes but this time (as the name suggests) they are constructed with repurposed fabric. Utilizing material that might otherwise go to waste, while cutting down on the environmental impacts associated with manufacturing new fabric. Another wonderful way for designer Jennifer Kim to tie conscious design into her slow fashion label. Some of our favorites from the collection include the Eloise in Shadow Velvet and the Nona in Mint Satin. I love how stunning their textures look; soft and luxurious, providing the perfect contrast next to the wooden heels. Its easy to see her inspirations, a play on shadows and sensual motions, with architectural influences from artists Marcel Breuer, Georg Jensen, and Zaha Hadid. The entire Repurposed collection in made to order and will be available online and at select retailers through the end of the year.

I have been wearing the Ophelie (in Cognac) from the original collection a ton lately. Made from 100% vegetable tanned leather, with the classic Behavior LA triangle wooden heel (hand carved by a family run factory, manufacturing shoes in LA since the 1970's). The shoe is so easy, slides right on and is generously padded for your comfort. But the unique shape makes me feel like I'm wearing something truly special, as does knowing that the line is locally and ethically made here in Los Angeles. Jennifer Kim's aesthetic is artful, creative and one of a kind; we love her commitment to thoughtful design.

Please check out our previous feature for a bit more on the brand (link here). A sampling of the ways I have been styling the Ophelie below.
