Fauxgerty

June 18, 2019

* This line closed at the end of 2019

Designer Chrissy Fogerty launched Fauxgerty in 2013 with a collection of PVC free faux leather motorcycle jackets, they inspired the lines name. Since then she has branched out to include a wide array of ethically produced styles, made from sustainable fabrics (75% of the pieces are sewn using deadstock, organic cotton and Tencel are also used). Fauxgerty’s collections are manufactured in California, Alabama and Tennessee, at factories that pay on average of 71% over minimum wage. In addition to choosing eco friendly fabrics and maintaining high ethical standards for their production, Fauxgerty also strives to be size inclusive. Their garments are sampled and fit tested on sizes 00 to 24, a range not often found in the ethical community (and very much needed). We love how conscious Chrissy is about every aspect of her business, and we adore the style of her pieces, a beautiful combination of vintage and modern.

Herself Clothing

May 31, 2019

Heather Stilin launched Herself Clothing in Spring 2019, the first season includes three dress styles offered in a variety of colors. All the pieces from the current collection are made using a beautiful Linen fabric, in the future she plans to include additional natural and sustainable materials (including deadstock). The dresses are an easy to wear take on the classic shift style, with thoughtfully placed details that add to the ease and comfort. As an experienced seamstress Heather does some of the pattern making and sewing of samples herself. She also works with local pattern makers, and a family run factory in Maine to create her final pieces. We love the quality construction, purposeful details and homegrown feeling of Herself Clothing. As well as the fact that the pieces can be worn by a wide variety of ages and shapes.

S. A. Plunkett Naturals

April 11, 2019

S. A. Plunkett is a natural, handmade skincare line out of Portland, Oregon. Founder Sally Plunkett always had a passion for skincare, trying to find safe effective products for her and her daughter’s sensitive skin pushed a former hobby into a business. Sally uses sustainably sourced, cruelty free, natural and certified organic ingredients for her line. She minimizes the use of plastic by packaging most of her products in glass bottles or tins, additionally bar soaps come in cloth baggies (or wrapped in paper products). We love the old school apothecary look of S. A. Plunkett and the pure ingredients. Some of my favorite products include the Matcha Green Tea mask, lip balms, bar soap and Earl Grey Lavender Black Tea body oil.

Bagtazo

January 29, 2019

Designer Courtney Bagtazo launched her brand in 2014 initially as a jewelry line, it has since grown to include beautiful hats and other accessories (gloves, scarfs and more). Her pieces are made in New York City, Hudson, New England and occasionally in France. The jewelry collection is all handmade, while the other accessories are finished by hand. Courtney started Bagtazo in Los Angeles but the line is currently based in New York where she resides. Bagtazo is a family name that the designer chose to honor her grandmother. I love the elegant yet edgy designs, the pieces have a unique editorial feel but are also minimal enough for everyday wear.

Mien

January 27, 2019

Mien or le mien means mine in French. Designer Lisa Hsieh chose the name for its simplicity and the connection it represents between mother and child. Lisa started the line in 2015 while pregnant with her own child, so it only make sense that the collection includes pieces for both women and kids. The womens collection is designed to accommodate the different stages of our lives, including pregnancy and nursing. She designs the pieces with our changing bodies in mind, hoping to uncomplicate our wardrobes by offering products that work for many occasions and many years. Her is jersey fabric is made from GOTS-certified organic cotton, custom knit in Los Angeles. Fabric sourcing, dying and sewing all take place within 20 minutes of Lisa’s studio. The dye house uses water saving techniques that also reduce the need for toxic coloring agents. Matching mama and me styles available.

Artisan Artifacts

January 25, 2019

Formerly in textile and clothing design, potter Ariana Richie transitioned into making ceramics as a way to work with her hands more. She creates functional stoneware, intended to bring beauty to everyday life. Her aesthetic embodies nature and ease, in her words a “desire for simplicity in an overly sensory world and a holistic approach to life.” Ariana uses raw, naturally occurring, non toxic materials and recycles her clay scraps. Products are then shipped using biodegradable packing peanuts to reduced environmental impact. Some of our favorite pieces from Artisan Artifacts are her amazing coffee pour overs and her shallow bowls. Studio visits are available by appointment if you are in the Fort Collins, Colorado area.

KdBird

December 13, 2018

Beautiful plant dyed, natural fiber hair accessories, made for kiddos but I may borrow some for myself. After the birth of her daughter designer Katie Burki decided to use her experience as a horticulturalist and garden designer to create a product line for kids. She uses botanical extracts and foraged materials to color linen, silk and cotton. Her love of plants and our planet inspires not only her collection but her packaging as well. Everything is plastic free and eco friendly, down to the compostable baggies that her hair accessories ship in.

Ona Organics

November 14, 2018

Founders Amanda Arapoglou and Elizabeth Dorow are friends of over 10 years, who were both drawn to study Ayurveda. For Elizabeth it came after years of farming the Moringa tree and studying its healing properties. Amanda’s practice of vedic meditation lead her to the traditional East Indian medicine and becoming a mother inspired her desire for pure skincare products. The women joined together and combined their knowledge to create an all natural Ayurveda inspired beauty ritual. The line incorporates plants and minerals with healing properties, specially selected to nourish the skin, mind and spirit. Including both the seed oil and leaf powder of the Moringa tree. Rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, the plant is said to have anti-aging benefits and helps remove impurities from the skin. The collection currently includes a facial scrub, mask and beauty oil. Each item is packaged in glass and shipped in eco-friendly packaging.

Rachael Harrah

October 8, 2018

**No longer in business, look for her pieces second hand and we will update you with any changes.

Designer Rachael Desztich creates clothing for the simple life. She combines minimalism and functionality, making pieces that are incredibly versatile and fuss free.

“ I want my clothes to be a tool to help women feel their best when dressing and create space in their life for what matters to them, by not having to spend hours staring into their closets. Motherhood has sharpened this even more for me, knowing how these needs are particularly resonant for moms and women throughout the evolving childbearing years.” - Rachael Desztich

The Rachael Harrah collection is sewn in a woman owned, fair trade certified sewing collective located in Los Angeles. This proximity to home allows Rachael to visit the workspace often, she knows each maker by name and gets to see production first hand. Transparency, honesty and mindful design are at the heart of her brand. Pieces are made using all natural fabrics, including deadstock (surplus fabric from larger fashion houses that has been discarded) and are garment dyed with low impact dyes. Additionally all packaging materials are recyclable. The line launched in 2018 with the most perfect linen blouses and has expanded to include a beautiful wrap dress. Each piece exudes ease, simplicity and a freshness. Rachael has captured the spirit of beach days, early morning farmers market trips and a lifestyle that is conscious yet somehow carefree.

Noto Botanics

September 12, 2018

Gloria Noto has been a makeup artist for over 11 years, she founded Noto Botanics with the intention of creating an inclusive natural skincare collection. The unisex cosmetic line is multi use, making for a clutter free (and toxin free) routine. Noto Botanics includes nourishing oils, sprays, color stains, highlighters and more. Our personal favorites, the Deep Serum (a hydrating face, neck and everywhere oil) and Hydra Highlighter (a perfect glow with a lovely rosemary/lavender scent). We also love that many of her products are available in glass, limiting the amount of plastic waste.

Fur

September 6, 2018

We've seen hair get a lot more attention lately, first with beard oils and most recently with Fur. We're 100% on board, especially with the come back of the bush and natural armpits, why not pamper all your hair (these sensitive areas need love too). Fur is not exclusive though, their products are also meant to nourish fully shaved or partially manicured bodies . They do this with a combination of base and essential oils that help prevent ingrowns and bumps, soothe razor burn, soften hair and of course hydrate the skin. We tried the signature Fur Oil and loved the subtle citrus scent, non greasy touch, plus the soft feel that it left on the skin and hair. Both the Ingrown Concentrate and Fur Oil contain only all natural oils. The line also includes a Stubble Cream which contains a few preservatives meant to prevent mold and spoiling. All their product are free of phthalates, parabens, sulfates, silicones, acids, gluten, cortisones, artificial dyes and fragrances, they are also cruelty free (as are all the products on our site) and vegan.

Fathers Daughter

August 31, 2018

father’s | daughter: direct translation of a Korean idiom meaning “to resemble the father.”

After years spent in the fashion industry father Jim Man (pattern maker) and Daughter Su Kim (designer) combined their experience and expertise to create a denim line that feels both classic yet brand new.  Jim Man built his career as a master pattern drafter for high end denim labels and eventually opened his own workshop. Meanwhile Su Kim traveled the world designing for a major denim company, until more creative fulfillment lead her to approach her father about a family collaboration. Their talent and knowledge are the perfect pairing (and make for the perfect pair of jeans). We love a family business, especially one that turns out such a great product. Their style is a beautiful mix of tomboy and feminine, with subtle details and clever construction. We are also big fans of the simple stitching, minimal leather tags and clean lines. Their collections include tops, dresses, jackets, jeans and more, all sewn in their small family run workshop.
